More About Saratoga California
Saratoga is considered one of the more expensive suburbs of California with over 70% of households having an income greater than $100,000. It was ranked by Forbes magazine as America's top 20 most educated small towns and the American Community Survey stated that Saratoga was the eighth wealthiest city in the US.
Originally being an agricultural area, Saratoga was home to vineyards and orchards before World War II. After, it was incorporated in 1956 and quickly grew as an urbanized, un-annexed community of San Jose. Saratoga touted the slogan "keep it rural" and today, Saratoga has done just that being a more bedroom community for the upper-middle-class tech workers of Silicon Valley.
This attractive, residential community features a small-town vibe and is known for its excellent quality of life, top-rated schools, and distinctive businesses. Saratoga boasts a vibrant arts scene, Parks and Recreation Department, and some of the best schools in the nation spread across six districts.
The Village is Saratoga's historic downtown district featuring multiple unique shops, fine dining, coffee shops, and art galleries.
Saratoga is operated by the Saratoga Union school District for primary and middle schools and was established back in 1865 and covers the majority of the city as well as small sections of Los Gatos and Monta Sereno. There are three elementary schools and one middle school and the Saratoga high school.
Why Choose Saratoga?
Saratoga is very popular with retirees. There are hundreds of things to do, see, explore, and experience for both retirees, young professionals, business folks, and families with children. The median home value is at $2 million and 85% of residents own their own homes. The median household income is $176,000. Here's what folks have to say about living in Saratoga.
I loved living in this small community where everyone really feels connected. Necessities are around a 10 min drive nearby to a small mall which is very convenient. However housing is extremely overpriced as the public school Saratoga High School holds a very high standard. That being said, the high school is very good for students and is a relatively small school compared to Cupertino schools, intertwining students. - Niche.com
